K. Brad Oakley is a Member in the Firm's Lexington, Kentucky, office. Mr. Oakley practices with the Firm's nationwide Occupational Safety and Health Practice Group. He represents mining, construction and general industry clients in safety and health enforcement actions issued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (including state‑run OSHA programs). Mr. Oakley's experience includes:
Defending operators in significant MSHA proceedings before administrative law judges
Representing operators in accident and fatality investigations by MSHA and OSHA
Defending operators in MSHA 105(c) discrimination claims
Representing agents of operators in civil, criminal and licensing proceedings
Mr. Oakley's practice area also includes general civil defense litigation, with a focus on construction litigation.
Mr. Oakley is admitted to practice in Kentucky state courts and before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and Sixth Circuits and United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. He is a member of the Kentucky and Fayette County Bar Associations. Mr. Oakley is a member of the Kentucky Coal Association's Safety & Health Committee, the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation and Kentucky Crushed Stone Association.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Oakley attended the University of Mississippi for his undergraduate studies. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 2001. Mr. Oakley attended his first year of law school at Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award for Torts. Mr. Oakley then continued his legal education at the University of Kentucky College of Law where he received his Juris Doctor in 2005.
