ABA Public Contact Section Elects New Council Members
September 6, 2016
At the American Bar Association’s Annual Meeting last month in San Francisco, the Section of Public Contract Law elected four new members to three-year terms on its governing Council. The new members include: Eric Whytsell of Jackson Kelly PLLC; Judge Marian Blank Horn of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims; Bryant Snee, Deputy Director – Commercial Litigation, U.S. Department of Justice; and Marine Corps attorney, Kristine B. Kassekert.
The Council’s members oversee the Section’s efforts to fulfill its mission, which is “to improve public procurement and grant law at the federal, state and local levels and promote the professional development of attorney and associate members in public procurement law.” In pursuit of this mission, the Section works through numerous committees and educational and training program offerings designed to foster opportunities for, and respond to the needs, talents and interests of, all Section members. The Section also seeks to improve public procurement by “contributing to developments in procurement legislation and regulations; by objectively and fairly evaluating such developments; by communicating the Section's evaluations, critiques and concerns to policy makers and government officials; and by sharing these communications with Section members and the public.”
