Jackson Kelly Attorney Elected President-Elect of Association of Defense Trial Attorneys

Thomas J. Hurney, Jr., a Member of the Firm’s Charleston, West Virginia office and leader of the Firm’s Health Care and Finance Practice Group, was elected President-Elect of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA) at its annual meeting in Monterey, California. Membership in the organization is by nomination only. According to the ADTA website, members “possess the highest skill level of a defense trial attorney in civil cases.” Mr. Hurney has been a member of the ADTA since 1992 and has served on its Executive Council as Secretary and Vice President as well as on various committees. Mr. Hurney’s fellow elected officers include President, Fred Raschke (Galveston, Texas); Vice President, James Holland (Jackson, Mississippi); Treasurer, Ed Birk (Jacksonville, Florida); and Secretary, Pamela Treadwell-Rubin (Tucson, Arizona). Jackson Kelly PLLC’s longstanding affiliation with the ADTA started with Winfield “Teke” Shaffer in the late 1970s. Jackson Kelly attorney Stephen R. Crislip served as ADTA President from 2006-2007. Other ADTA members in the Firm include Wendy G. Adkins, Michael T. Cimino and William J. Powell.
