Jackson Kelly lawyers named to 2015 list of Colorado Super Lawyers

DENVER – Mar. 13, 2015 – Four attorneys from Jackson Kelly PLLC’s Denver, Colorado, office have been named to the 2015 list of Colorado Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. Laura E. Beverage and John S. Zakhem have been chosen for the 2015 list of Colorado Super Lawyers. Kristin R.B. White and Meredith A. Kapushion have been selected for inclusion in the 2015 Rising Stars list.
Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state are named to the Rising Stars list each year. Rising Star nominees must be either 40 years old or younger, or in practice for ten years or less.
Beverage is a Member of Jackson Kelly practicing in the Firm's Occupational Safety and Health Practice Group. Beverage transferred from the Firm's Charleston, West Virginia, office to establish its westernmost office in Denver in 1993. She managed the Denver office from 1993 to 2001 and 2008 to 2014. Beverage represents general industry, construction and mining clients in compliance issues, policy, legislative and regulatory matters, and civil and criminal enforcement issues, accident investigation and whistleblower claims on both state and federal levels. She has extensive experience involving issues under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act and other state and federal safety and health statutes.
Zakhem, Counsel, is a member of the Commercial Law Practice group where he focuses on the representation of business and real estate owners in the areas of labor and commercial litigation, corporate and business law, real estate, election law and campaign finance, professional/medical practices, securities and contracts.
White is a Member of the Firm, and manages the Denver, Colorado, office. She focuses her practice on occupational safety and health and mine safety and health. White represents general industry, construction, coal, oil and gas, energy, automotive, manufacturing, chemical, warehousing and mining clients with regard to their regulatory safety and health matters and in crisis management.
Kapushion is an associate practicing in the Firm’s Occupational Safety and Health Practice Group. She works with businesses to improve safety practices and regulatory compliance and also defends employers in regulatory proceedings. Her practice also includes civil and commercial litigation, particularly construction litigation, appellate work and defending design professionals. Kapushion is also a member of the Firm's Electronic Discovery Group. She routinely advises clients on electronic discovery compliance, both prior to and during litigation, and works with clients to maximize the value of electronic discovery and minimize its costs.
