In 2008, Jackson Kelly attorney Thomas M. McJunkin started the mentoring programming at Piedmont Elementary School in Charleston, WV known as JKEEP. McJunkin's daughter, Allison, talks about the importance of the program and its legacy in this story featured on the Washington and Lee website.
The Elevators meet with their students once a week and let the students’ interests guide their interactions. The goal of the program is to provide one-on-one attention to students at an early age and inspire self-confidence. Jackson Kelly employees form close bonds with the students and often remark that the visits are the highlight of their week.
