Candice Harlow is a Member in the Firm’s Health Care, Commercial, and General Litigation practices groups. She practices out of the Firm’s office in Charleston, West Virginia.
Candice spends much of her legal practice defending health care providers (including physicians and physician groups, mid-level providers, hospitals, and other medical facilities) in medical professional liability actions. She is well versed in the West Virginia Medical Professional Liability Act, W. Va. Code §§ 55-7B-1, et seq. and the West Virginia Peer Review Statute, W. Va. Code §§ 30-3C-1, et seq., having published articles on the statutes and applicable case law. She also serves as Chair of the Medical Liability Committee for the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia.
In this arena, Candice has handled a variety of medical professional liability cases, including actions arising out of primary care, complex surgical care, wound care, radiology, and birth injury cases. She also has experience in opioid litigation, drug and medical device litigation, and has successfully defeated a putative class action against physicians arising from their use of contaminated steroids. Additionally, Candice has experience handling cases that involve alleged disclosures of protected health information and other privacy violations. As a litigator, Candice has consistently obtained favorable outcomes for her clients in court, at trial, and on appeal.
Candice graduated Order of the Coif from the West Virginia University College of Law, where she served as an editor of the West Virginia Law Review for Volumes 115 and 116 and was a member of the United States Supreme Court Law Clinic. While in law school, Candice clerked for a federal district court judge before joining Jackson Kelly PLLC as a summer associate in 2013.
Outside of the office, Candice enjoys spending time with her husband and sons traveling to national and state parks, attending music festivals, and enjoying the outdoors.
