L. Richard "Rick" Dorsey, II is Counsel in the Business Law practice group, focusing primarily on real estate, energy, and renewable resources law. He practices out of the Firm's office in Charleston, West Virginia.
Rick is a second generation attorney who understands West Virginia and the Kanawha Valley inside and out. Having grown up in the Charleston area, Rick knows what West Virginia means to his clients, bringing a "blue-collar" effort and attitude to a "white-collar" job.
From real estate matters like title abstracting and foreclosures, to oil and gas and other mineral rights law, Rick works tirelessly for his clients and the Firm. He also brings almost 20 years of knowledge in contract work, title opinions, discovery matters, mechanic liens and more.
But hard work is not all he's known for. When possible, Rick likes to relax by playing historical war games. He plays numerous computer and console based games, with roleplaying, strategy (turn-based) and first person shooters are his favorite. He reads fantasy and science fiction. He enjoys fishing and hunting for relaxation more than the actual hunt. His son though would hunt everyday if he were allowed. He and his wife have 13 quarter horses, of which 8 are in active training, and of which 6 are competing and showing. He shows in the Ohio Ranch Horse Association (ORHA ), American Ranch Horse Association (ARHA) and National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA). Plus, in 2023, he won 3rd in ARHA World Show in Novice Amateur Boxing in Ocala, Florida.
